Manager

Position Summary


The Production Manager plays a key role in leading Flexure’s Production Team to deliver high-quality and timely service across all client engagements, ensuring a seamless client experience. This role oversees the end-to-end production flow, ensuring each phase—from signed proposal, to planning and execution, to quality control—is managed with precision and care. The Production Manager is responsible for resource management, including team capacity, utilization, and budget alignment (estimated vs. actual hours), while also driving continuous improvement in processes and team development.

This is a non-billable role focused on internal operations, team performance, and alignment with Flexure’s mission and values. The Production Manager will report regularly to leadership through our weekly leadership meetings, providing insights into team performance, capacity, and quality metrics.

This position demands a high level of expertise in interpersonal communication, technical aptitude, organization, personal time management, project management, and demonstrated leadership qualities.   

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize the production lifecycle for planning and recurring accounting clients

  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of client work, maintaining high standards of service and technical excellence.

  • Develop and enforce quality control processes, including reviews and audits to ensure effectiveness.

  • Develop and oversee team utilization and capacity planning to ensure balanced workloads and efficient resource allocation.

  • Monitor and report on budget performance, including estimated vs. actual team hours 

  • Create track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as utilization goals, on-time delivery, and average billable rate

  • Lead, mentor, and grow our team of Accountants, Bookkeepers, and Finance professionals.

  • Provide technical guidance and soft-skill development to support client communication and presentation.

  • Collaborate with international team members to ensure cohesive and aligned production efforts.

  • Participate in Ninety and L10 meetings, providing leadership with clear, actionable insights  into production performance.

  • Work with Senior Leadership to enhance team clarity, alignment, and goal-setting.

  • Continuously improve production workflows and systems to support Flexure’s growth.

  • Serve as a technical lead for Flexure’s tech stack, including MS Teams, QuickBooks (Online & Desktop), Fathom, Gusto, Dext, Bill.com, and QBox.

Technical Requirements

The successful applicant needs a very high level of technical knowledge and an ability to apply it to finalize Jobs for the Production Manager, including:  

  • High aptitude over basic financial statements and composition of the Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss, and Statement of Cash flows.

  • Proficient with project management applications and willingness to learn new applications

  • Project Management

  • Oversight of full-charge accounting functions

  • Managing timelines, deliverables and team workflows for recurring and non-recurring project work.

  • Familiarity with Utilization tracking, capacity planning, and budget to actual hours analysis.

  • Lead, develop and grow a production team of planning service professionals.

  • Proactive problem solver

  • High level of organization and time management capabilities

  • A mindset for continuous improvement and strategic oversight 

Education Requirements 

  • 4-year Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Business Administration, Accounting, Operations, or Finance) is preferred but may be substituted with applicable work experience

Experience Requirements 

  • 5+ years of experience in Production management.

  • 5 years of experience in a supervisory/managerial role.

  • Public Accounting/consulting experience, at least Manager level, preferred

  • Strong project management and prioritization skills.

  • Strong understanding of financial performance analysis and strategic input
