10 Years of Flexure. And We’re Just Getting Started.
Ten years ago, Flexure began with a simple belief: there had to be a better way to come alongside business owners and help them prepare for whatever comes next.
Ten years. It’s hard to believe we’ve crossed this line. What started small has grown into something we’re incredibly grateful for—not simply because of what Flexure has become, but because of the people, businesses, relationships, challenges, and opportunities that have shaped us along the way.
As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we’ve found ourselves looking back at where we started and everything that has happened since. But even more than that, we’re thinking about where we’re going. If the last ten years have taught us anything, it’s that businesses never stop changing—and neither should we.
It started with a conversation.
Flexure began in 2016 after a chance conversation between our founder, Travis Huisman, and a family member while on a fishing trip. They talked about business, the challenges owners face, and how traditional approaches to accounting and advisory services didn’t always give business owners what they really needed.
There had to be a better way—a way to come alongside owners, understand what they were facing, help them see their businesses more clearly, and give them the insight and support they needed to move forward confidently. That conversation eventually became Flexure and established a belief that has stayed with us ever since: the numbers matter, but the people behind them matter even more.
A lot can happen in ten years.
Businesses change. Markets change. Technology changes. And business owners' needs change right along with them.
Over the past decade, Flexure has grown from an idea into a team of people with different experiences, perspectives, and areas of expertise, all working toward the same goal: helping businesses become stronger and better prepared for the future. Along the way, our capabilities have expanded, our team has grown, and our understanding of what business owners really need has deepened.
Perhaps one of the most important things we’ve learned is that the challenges owners bring to us rarely fit neatly into one category. A financial challenge can really be a leadership challenge. A marketing challenge can stem from a lack of organizational clarity. A growth challenge can expose operational issues. And an ownership transition can affect nearly every part of a business—and every person in it.
Recognizing those connections has played an important role in shaping the Flexure of today.
The real story is the people.
We didn’t accomplish ten years alone. No Flexure story exists without the clients who trusted us with their businesses, their questions, their challenges, and sometimes some of the most important decisions of their lives.
Flexure wouldn’t be what it is without the team members who have brought their talents, ideas, experience, and care to the work. And Flexure wouldn’t be possible without the partners who have worked alongside us, challenged us, opened doors, and helped us see new possibilities. And there is no Flexure without the families, friends, and communities that have supported us along the way.
To everyone who has been part of these first ten years, thank you. We don’t take your trust for granted, and we know reaching this milestone reflects as much the relationships we’ve built as it does what we’ve accomplished as a company.
What ten years have taught us.
We’ve learned a lot over the past decade, but a few beliefs have become increasingly clear.
01 | Business is human
People stand behind every financial statement, strategy, marketing plan, transition, and business decision. They have goals, families, responsibilities, aspirations, and a lot riding on the decisions they make. That’s why we believe the best business relationships begin by understanding the people behind the business.
02 | Clarity creates momentum
It’s difficult to move confidently when you can’t clearly see where you are, where you’re going, or what’s standing in the way. Sometimes the greatest value we can bring isn’t another answer—it’s helping someone see the situation differently. With greater clarity, people can make better decisions, and better decisions create momentum.
03 | Growth is about more than getting bigger
Revenue, profitability, and enterprise value matter, but growth can mean much more. It can mean building a stronger leadership team, creating a healthier culture, becoming less dependent on the owner, connecting more meaningfully with customers, creating opportunities for employees, preparing the next generation, or building a business that someday gives its owner the freedom to step away.
Growth looks different for every business because success looks different for every owner.
Ten years brought us here.
We continue to evolve. What began primarily in finance and accounting has grown into something broader: a Business Growth Agency designed to help owners strengthen their organizations and prepare for what’s next.
We now bring together three interconnected areas of expertise. Through Finance & Accounting, we help businesses understand where they stand and make better-informed decisions through strategic financial guidance, dependable accounting, and clearer reporting. Through Brand & Marketing, we help businesses clarify who they are, what makes them different, and how to consistently connect with the people who matter. And through Growth & Transition, we help owners strengthen their organizations, build lasting value, and prepare their businesses—and their people—for the opportunities and changes ahead.
While those disciplines may look different, they share the same purpose. We see your potential. Our role is to help recognize it, strengthen it, and turn it into something lasting.
So here’s to what’s NEXT.
Ten years ago, we couldn’t have known exactly where that first conversation would lead. We couldn’t have predicted every client we’d meet, every person who would join our team, every challenge we’d encounter, or every opportunity that would change our direction. And we certainly can’t predict everything the next ten years will bring.
That’s part of what makes this milestone so meaningful. We aren’t celebrating ten years because we’ve arrived. We’re celebrating how much we’ve learned, the relationships we’ve built, and the opportunity to keep getting better at helping businesses and their people thrive.
As we mark ten years, we’re raising a cup to everyone who helped make the first decade possible. Thank you for your trust, your partnership, and for being part of our story.
